Key Category Pillars
Key category areas are split across 4 pillars:
The Buildings Pillar Category team currently manage c.£2.5bn market spend and is responsible for the delivery of innovative, market making agreements which will serve all of the UK Public Sector’s needs. Buildings Pillar currently includes the following key category areas: Construction, Energy and Workplace.
Construction is a high-profile category group within CCS Buildings Pillar, (incorporating Energy, Workplace and Construction) all of which have an equally high political profile due to the significant annual expenditure, and capacity for excellent commercial solutions to drive value for the taxpayer. Construction, and its component parts, is a strategically critical category for Central Government and the Wider Public Sector and must align with the Government Construction Strategy (GCS) to allow innovation and drive a future optimum construction model. CCS will use its commercial expertise to drive strategic and tactical solutions for all property management needs.
These category strategies will drive some fundamental changes to both the structure of Construction Works, Modular Building Solutions, Professional Services and Building Materials procurement and also the commercial vehicles available to deliver more efficiency opportunities across the public sector.
CCS is expanding its team and seeks an experienced and knowledgeable professional to pioneer innovative commercial delivery and offers an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building the capability and introducing new technology and innovation into the Construction category and industry.
The people pillar is an exciting, fast paced and high-profile category within CCS and is all about helping customers get the right people, with the right skills, in the right place – and at the right price. The people pillar is responsible for over £2 billion of spend a year through its contracts and has ambitious targets to expand and we are always looking how we can offer added value to our customers. We have an extensive range of contracts from business consultancy and legal services, through temporary and permanent staff, to apprenticeship training, learning & development solutions, language services, contact centres and many more. The contracts we have in the people pillar are critical to the effective delivery of government and are of high strategic importance with many supporting EU Exit. The people pillar has a strong team spirit and has a shared desire to make a real difference in improving public services for example by providing more doctors and nurses to the NHS and more teachers in schools. The successful candidates will be joining the pillar at a very exciting time.
The Technology Pillar in CCS provides a wide range of commercial solutions through which last year our customers, from across the entire public sector, spent £5bn on technology products, services and solutions to help them meet their business challenges.
We are organised around the different types of products and services we offer, and these include hardware, software, business and enterprise applications, cyber security, networks and telecoms, fixed and mobile telephony, conferencing, business services, smart solutions, traffic management, application and solution development, digital training and support, hosting and cloud solutions. Through deep engagement with the supply market and the full breadth of the public sector across the UK, we continuously work to provide flexible and comprehensive procurement solutions to maximise commercial benefits for all our customers.
We work with customers to help them disaggregate legacy outsourced solutions, whilst seeking to leverage volume by aggregating demand for common goods and services.
We operate internally across a number of key functions, including strategy development, commercial procurement, operational customer support and supplier management, and business development.
We are looking for confident, self-starting, innovative candidates with excellent communication, stakeholder and problem-solving skills who are able to work with customers to help them solve their business needs using our range of commercial technology agreements. Ideal candidates will have experience working in a commercial environment covering one or more of the technology areas described above.
The Corporate Pillar is CCS’s biggest and most varied. In 18/19 we were responsible for nearly 40% of the £15.5bn that the public sector spent via our framework agreements. We’re growing too and our aim this year is to see the public sector spend more than £7bn with us. Last year we delivered more than £300m in savings for the tax payer
We also help to strengthen the UK economy, in particular by facilitating central government spend on common goods and services towards small and medium businesses. In 18/19 that totalled nearly £700 million pounds.
We do all of this by using our expertise across Document Management and Logistics; Travel; Fleet; Financial Services and Marketing, Communications and Research to create great deals which public sector organisations can access to buy what they need in these categories.
